Quality standards

Consistency Starts With the Sort

A melee parcel is only as good as the discipline behind it. Every stone we ship has passed through gauging, grading and make screening designed for one purpose: that the second parcel you order behaves exactly like the first.

What we control

Millimetre tolerance

Stones are gauged and grouped into tight bands so a parcel drops into one seat size without hand-picking at the bench.

Color grouping

Melee is sorted into narrow color ranges, then re-checked against master comparison stones before a parcel is closed.

Clarity discipline

Clarity is assessed for what matters at melee scale — eye-visible inclusions and reflective darkness in a set line.

Make control

Depth, symmetry and girdle thickness are screened so stones sit level and light performance stays even across a run.

Natural and lab-grown separation

The two supply chains are handled, stored and sorted separately with no shared parcels at any stage.

Verified before dispatch

Each parcel is re-counted and re-gauged against the order specification before it leaves our New York office.

The sorting process

  1. 01

    Intake

Rough parcels are logged against their source and held separately by type before any sorting begins.

  2. 02

    Gauge

Stones are sized to calibrated bands. Anything outside the band goes back to be re-sorted, not blended in.

  3. 03

    Grade

Color and clarity grouping under controlled lighting, checked against masters by a second sorter.

  4. 04

    Make screen

Off-make, thick-girdle and fish-eye stones are pulled out of production parcels.

  5. 05

    Close and verify

Parcels are weighed, counted and labelled with the exact specification you ordered.

Buy the same spec twice

Order once, and every reorder pulls the identical specification from your history — same band, same grouping, same expectations at the bench.
